A335 P5 seamless alloy pipe for oil storage tanks system

A335 P5 pipe is a ferritic stainless-steel alloy pipe. The tensile strength for a335 grade p5 pipe ranges from 60,000 psi to 85,000 psi or 415 MPa to 585 Mpa and its yield strength ranges from 30.000 psi to 60,000 psi or 205 Mpa to 415 Mpa. The elongation for pipes made from sa335 p5 material is about 30%.

Adding Molybdenum increases the resistance of A335 P5 seamless pipe to softening. It also prevents grain growth. Further, Molybdenum increases the resistance to brittleness which could occur in chromium steel. This chrome Molybdenum alloy a335 p5 steel pipe is well suited to applications where fluids like oil, water and gases are to be carried across refineries, factories or plants at very high pressure and temperature. The A335 P5 alloy steel pipe is well suited for forming operations like – bending & flanging, as well as for fusion welding.

The pipe is sometimes referred to as P Grade since this alloy has varying grades of steel i.e. - P5, P9, P11, P22 & P91.
ASTM A335 p5 alloy pipes are often surface treated. This surface treatment or coating can be done with a variety of options. For example, they could be oil-dipped, varnished or shot blasted. Or the pipes could undergo either passivation or phosphating.

The manufacturing process of a335 grade p5 pipes could be done by hot finishing or cold drawing. The cold drawn pipe can then be finished with either of the heat treatment below mentioned below -
